Ever walk into a room or situation where it was obvious that “something” was happening that you had zero presence of?!? You were clearly clueless, the atmosphere was thick with tension… and yet… whatever that “something” was… no one was telling you! Welcome to my understanding of Forgiveness… My “Word for the Year 2024”
It sometimes occurs as if I’m the only one going through any difficulties over these past few years (and then I open my eyes and remember… I’m alive and EVERYONE has been going through something difficult!). The unknown and uncertain future is NOT New… However, I have been powerfully and obviously reminded just how little control I have sometimes and that has led to something negative and caustic to my Heart… Bitterness and Resignation.
Typing those words in digital “ink” are both startling and scary… I am a fairly positive and possibility oriented person… How did Bitterness and Resignation creep in? Fear and a rational desire to protect my-Self from more hurt and risk (all very rational). What I didn’t see was that the Protective barrier I had put about around me came with a consequence I wasn’t considering… Separation.
Having a separateness required this very “logical & fair” individual to need to be able to rationalize and justify my reason for creating that separation and I came up with something as I sat alone in a contemplative state this New Years 2023/24. I, Mr. “Love my neighbor as my-self,” harbor beliefs that I am right and “they” are wrong… The Essence of a Heart at War.
In not Loving others, I have minimized my own access to Love and the Love I have for my-Self… so it’s time to DIVE into a word I thought I knew so well…. FORGIVENESS
In essence… I have been drinking from a poison cup, damaging my Love for myself, and waiting for those around me to pay for troubles I have experienced. I need forgiveness and so do they… we ALL do.
So would you join me this year in exploring this word… FORGIVENESS… and looking at the Miracle it is… Grounded in Love and seeking Peace… for without Love, there is no need to balance the injustice of the world. And without the Miraculous… No Space for the Transformation required to turn Pain into Possibility and Overcome the Obstacles of our Past –
